Thyme for herbs

The next Thyme for Herbs Group meeting will be Thursday, May 10 at 7 p.m. at the North Lake County Public Library Meeting Room. There will be no plant exchange that night, but we will be discussing “Growing and Using Herbs.” If you’re new to the group, please call Linda Peterson at 319-2446. Everyone is invited to join us.

Pachyderms meet

New technology that spurs a local economy will be the topic at the next Lake County Pachyderm Club meeting on Friday, May 11 at the Rural Fire Department on Airport Road. Robin Kelson will tell the story of Algae Aqua Culture Technologies which is building its first production facility at the Stolz Lumber Company site in Columbia Falls. The 12:05 p.m. meeting will go until 1 and is preceded by a social time of 11:30 a.m.

Community dinner

Come to a community dinner at the Polson Presbyterian Church this Friday, May 11 from 5-7 p.m. Everybody is welcome. The dinner is on every second Friday of the month. The church is located at 301 4th Ave. East. For more info, call 883-5807.

RMS plays

Ronan Middle School will present “Anne of Green Gables” on May 11-12 and “Little Women” on May 24-25 at 7 p.m. in the Ronan Performing Arts Center.

Clothesline project

The Clothesline Project and Healing Stories, in recognition of women who are survivors of sexual violence, will take place on Friday, May 11, from 2-6 p.m., at the Johnny Arlee/Victor Charlo Theatre on the Salish Kootenai College campus. This afternoon of food, art and healing will be a time for women to come together to heal, in a variety of ways, from the effects of sexual violence, which last long after any assault has occurred. Producer to speak

Jerry Molen, producer of films such as Rain Man, Jurassic Park and Schindler’s List, will be speaking at the Ronan Middle School Auditorium on Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m.

SKC luncheon

The SKC Foundation 2012 Annual Luncheon will be Wednesday, May 16 from 12-1 p.m. at the KwaTaqNuk Resort in Polson. Kody Ensley, SKC NASA student, will be speaking. Only a few seats remain for this free event. Contact Angelique Albert (406-275-4820) for more information.

Flathead board meets

The Flathead Reservation Fish and Wildlife Board will meet on Wednesday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Natural Resources Department Main Office at 301 Main Street in Polson. The agenda includes discussion of pheasant and Gray Partridge seasons and Tribal projects and accomplishments. Board Chairman Whisper Camel-Means invites the public to attend and ask questions or express their views.

Explore Montana

The Polson Business Community would like to invite you to attend the viewing of “Explore Montana” in HD. Come see what folks in Washington and Canada are viewing about Montana. The special segment on Polson is spectacular. Viewing will be at the North Lake County Library meeting room Wednesday, May 16 at 6 p.m.

Health screenings

Women and men of all ages are welcome for free health screening and services, including bone density screens, carotid imaging and mammograms at Health Matters! Yours, Mine and Ours on Thursday, May 17 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Joe McDonald Health and Fitness Center at SKC.

Basket challenge

Women 4 Wellness and SAFE Harbor are asking community groups, businesses, individuals and anyone else to take the Great Basket Challenge,, a challenge where individuals or groups fill a basket with items that SAFE Harbor uses throughout the year. Volunteers will distribute the baskets on Thursday, May 10 and the filled baskets will be displayed at the Women 4 Wellness event on Thursday, May 17 at SKC. Shred day

The fifth-annual Community After Tax Shred Day will be held Friday, May 18 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Community Bank in Polson. There will be a mobile shred truck at the bank to shred personal documents and bank staff will be available with tips to protect yourself from identity theft.

Big Arm potluck

The next Big Arm potluck will be on Friday, May 18 at 6 p.m. at the historic school. Denver Holt, founder and director of the renowned Owl Research Institute, will be the guest speaker, beginning his presentation at 7 p.m. Holt’s research on snowy owls has been featured in documentaries for National Geographic, as well as other TV programs. Cherry blossoms

The public is invited to the Yellow Bay Community Club’s ninth-Annual Flathead Lake Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Yellow Bay Clubhouse at mile marker 18 on Highway 35. The free festival celebrates the Flathead cherry blossoms that bloom in May. Door prizes will be announced all day and raffles will be held. For more information, call Barbara at 982-3064.

Church cleanup

Everyone who knows and loves the Jocko Church is invited to come together on May 19-20 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for a cleanup party. The church is in need of loving hands to clean inside and out. Please bring cleaning equipment such as mops and rags if you can. There will be a picnic and lunch provided and doughnuts, rolls and coffee will be available in the morning. Please bring your own chairs.

Valley View potluck

The next Valley View potluck is on Sunday, May 20 at 5 p.m. at the Valley View Clubhouse. Bring your favorite potluck dish to share. Carmine Mowbray will be the guest speaker.
