RONAN — A 21-year-old Ronan man was hit with a taser and is currently being held on charges of theft, DUI and eluding police after leading local law enforcement on a 15-minute chase on a stolen ATV. According to Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin, Leroy Black II allegedly reached speeds of 60 m.p.h. while fleeing police before he crashed the ATV in a field off Moiese Valley Road near Round Butte Road.

According to Yonkin, Lake County dispatch received a report at 2:16 a.m. on May 4 that someone had stolen an ATV from a resident on Carbine Road near Ronan. Lake County deputies and tribal police quickly located the stolen ATV, driven allegedly by Black, and pursued him for 15 minutes in a high-speed chase. After the ATV crashed, Black was hit with a taser and then transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for injuries he suffered in the crash.

Yonkin said that Ronan Ambulance and the Ronan Police Department assisted in the incident.

Black is currently being held on charges and remains in Lake County Jail without bond until he is arraigned.
