MOIESE — On Saturday, May 12, 2012, the National Bison Range plans to open Red Sleep Mountain Drive for the season (weather and road conditions permitting, of course). This scenic road provides excellent opportunities to see bison with calves along with numerous blooming wildflowers.

The front gate will open at 6:30 p.m. and the refuge closes to all public use at dark (see gate for posted times). Morning and evening provide the best wildlife viewing. For visitors coming for an evening visit, you will need to start Red Sleep Mountain Drive no later than 6 p.m. to finish the loop before the main gate closes at dark.

The Bison Range Visitor Center will be open daily starting on May 12. Hours of operations will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends. Fees are charged for the scenic drive and are payable at the visitor center.

For safety reasons, the Refuge imposes a variety of vehicle restrictions on oversized vehicles, trailers, motorcycles and bicycles. Questions, call the Bison Range office at 406-644-2211 or visit the website at http://www.fws.gov/bisonrange
