PABLO — The 10Sticks Lacrosse offense was firing on all cylinders last Thursday against Missoula Sentinel.

The Flathead Reservation team jumped out to a 5-0 lead behind first quarter goals by Al Plant and Dan LaFranier, who scored four by himself.

Sentinel closed in with two goals of their own before halftime, and an intensely matched third quarter brought the score to within one. Then in the final stanza, Plant fired off two quick scores and Zach Schmidt tacked on another with just under eight minutes to play in the game. A quick Sentinel score gave new life to the visiting squad who would put away two back-to-back goals with less than five minutes to go.

With 43 seconds on the clock, and up by one, Plant buried the insurance goal to put the game away, 9-7.

“We have the will to win,” said goalie Zach Daniels, who had 15 saves in the game.

On Saturday, the team traveled to Bozeman where it split a pair of contests. In the first game of the day, 10Sticks fell to a tough Bozeman squad 12-5. Schmidt, Plant and Ambrose Brown scored and Daniels had 10 saves in the game.

In game two, 10Sticks overpowered Billings 10-4. Schmidt was a force on the field, scoring a hat trick, while Plant had four goals, Brown two and Riley Roberts one. Daniels had five saves in the game.

This weekend, 10Sticks players and coaches will travel to Missoula for the Montana State Lacrosse Tournament.
