As they get ready for the state tournament, Mission tennis players are preparing by testing themselves against high quality competition.
Playing against some No. 1 players from other teams, the Lady Bulldogs’ No. 2, Jane Makepeace, finished fourth at divisionals. Makepeace fell to Kianna Wicklund of Bigfork 6-1, 6-2 before nearly knocking off Ronan’s Amber Metzger in a competitive 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 loss.

Meanwhile, some of Mission’s boys were at the Best of the West tournament experiencing success. Harry Suta and Katz Yelsa swept through their bracket, winning all three of their matches, while Felix Sonntag, the Bulldogs’ No. 2 singles player, won two of his four contests.
At No. 4, Michael Baeuerle took first, going 2-1 over the course of three matches. In other action, Karl Daniels, at No. 1 singles, and the team of RJ Blood and Zeeshaun Ali, at No. 2 doubles, won a match in their tournament. The state tennis tournament began Tuesday, May 15 and ends Thursday, May 17.
