Health screenings
Women and men of all ages are welcome for free health screening and services, including bone density screens, carotid imaging and mammograms at Health Matters! Yours, Mine and Ours on Thursday, May 17 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Joe McDonald Health and Fitness Center at SKC.
Shred day
The fifth-annual Community After Tax Shred Day will be held Friday, May 18 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Community Bank in Polson. There will be a mobile shred truck at the bank to shred personal documents and bank staff will be available with tips to protect yourself from identity theft.
Big Arm potluck
The next Big Arm potluck will be on Friday, May 18 at 6 p.m. at the historic school. Denver Holt, founder and director of the renowned Owl Research Institute, will be the guest speaker, beginning his presentation at 7 p.m. Holt’s research on snowy owls has been featured in documentaries for National Geographic, as well as other TV programs. Cherry blossoms
The public is invited to the Yellow Bay Community Club’s Ninth-Annual Flathead Lake Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Yellow Bay Clubhouse at mile marker 18 on Highway 35. The free festival celebrates the Flathead cherry blossoms that bloom in May. Door prizes will be announced all day and raffles will be held. For more information, call Barbara at 982-3064.
Church cleanup
Everyone who knows and loves the Jocko Church is invited to come together on May 19-20 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for a cleanup party. The church is in need of loving hands to clean inside and out. Please bring cleaning equipment such as mops and rags if you can. There will be a picnic and lunch provided and doughnuts, rolls and coffee will be available in the morning. Please bring your own chairs.
Free concert
The bell choir and chancel choir of the Polson Presbyterian Church will present a free concert at the church on Sunday, May 20 at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Lunch concert
The Ronan Jazz Band will be putting on an Out to Lunch Concert at the Ronan City Park on Tuesday, May 22 from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The band will be set up by the playground, so bring a lunch and come enjoy the music.
Prepare yourself
A disaster or emergency can happen in an instant and can present itself in many forms, including earthquake, flood or economic crisis. Join us to learn what you can do to prepare yourself and your family for difficult times at the Ronan Community Center on Thursday, May 24 from 7-9 p.m. as Brandon Smith and Stewart Rhodes join us to talk about what they’re doing to prepare in the Flathead Valley.
