Starving artists give food pantry a boost
RONAN — The artists may be starving, but the clients of the Ronan Bread Basket will not be after the generous donations of food and funds arrived from Willard’s Bar’s annual Starving Artists Show and Benefit on Saturday, May 12.
Patrons of the artists’ show donated 438 pounds of food and nearly $1,500 in cash to Ronan’s local food pantry, the Bread Basket. Much of the cash came as the result of the silent auction which featured over 40 items donated by local people.
Julie Moore, head starving artist and co-owner of Willard’s, worked tirelessly to make the event successful for her fellow artists and the food bank.
In addition to all the donated items and money, she even had time to paint a special picture using food as a medium.
“I’ve never painted with huckleberries before,” she said while describing all the foods she used to make the painting happen. “We get more community support every year.”
Other artists who showed their work at the event in addition to Moore were Ronan photographers Craig Dulmes and Kathy Jaramillo.
