Ronan

With the month of May nearly here, I want to remind you of the AARP 55-Alive class that will be here on Wednesday, May 30.

The class starts at 9 a.m. Some auto insurances will give you a discount for taking the class, but even if they don’t, it is a great refresher course. Give me a call at 676-2371 if you want to sign up.

This Friday is our monthly birthday dinner, and we will be serving our traditional roast beef dinner, and I’m sure that the band will be here to entertain us with some great music.

The new recycling stations around the county are great, but please don’t forget all of the non-profit organizations who rely on the income they get from the aluminum cans. The senior center and the COA, here in Ronan, are just two of those organizations. We will continue to have the can drop off located at the back of the building, and as usual will greatly appreciate your donations.

On Monday evenings, the senior centers in Ronan, St. Ignatius, Charlo and or Dixon host a rotating pinochle game. Call your local center to see who is hosting the party each week. They are always happy to have new players join them.

The Shepherd’s Table is still having their Tuesday (5 p.m.) community meals here at the center. Various churches sponsor these meals, and the food is always great.

Our menu for the following week: Friday (24th) is roast beef, Monday (28th) we are closed and Wednesday (30th) is salmon loaf.

These meals are open to the public. Please feel free to join us for some great food and to visit with your friends. If you think that you won’t know anybody here, think again, as almost everyone who joins us finds out that they know several people here.

Thank you to those of you who donated some large flower pots. They are just what we needed and we won’t be needing any more. We have plenty to do with as we need to.

Jo and Shirley, our resident interior decorators, are planning to decorate our tree here at the Center in wedding pictures for June. So if you would like to donate a picture, to be returned to you, for the tree we would really appreciate it. We will hold a contest to see who can identify the bride and grooms in the pictures. We will announce the winner at the June Birthday Dinner.

Just a little friendly reminder that the center will be closed on Monday, May 28 in honor of Memorial Day. We will be open at the usual time on Tuesday, May 29.

You all have a super duper week and think sunny and warm.

Now for some card scores. Bridge for May 15 had Max Neeley first and Dean Greiner second and for May 18 Dean Greiner took first and Donna Cason was second. Pinochle scores for May 17 were Jan Kaschke first and Dee Adams was second.

Luncheon menu: Thursday (5/24) Polish dogs; Friday (5/25) roast beef birthday lunch; Monday (5/28) closed; (Tuesday) 5/29) navy bean and ham soup; Wednesday (5/30) chicken enchiladas.

St. Ignatius

The St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center added a third evening meal this month. It will be a roast beef dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30.

The following are senior center activities for the rest of May: May 24 quilters; May 25 meatballs and noodles lunch; May 29 hamburgers lunch; May 30 roast beef dinner, 5:30 p.m.; May 31 quilters. Bingo is played after almost every lunch.
