Park gets an upgrade
POLSON — Polson philanthropist Paul McCann recently donated $25,000 to upgrade playground equipment at Boettcher Park.
“It’s just a great thing and we’re going to be able to use the money in a great way,” Polson Parks Department Superintendent Karen Sargeant said.
The Paul J. McCann Foundation donated around $400,000 to support various charities and non-profit groups throughout Montana and the United States in 2011.
The money, according to Sargeant, will go toward a project at Boettcher Park that will ultimately make the playground more inviting to families and easier for the parks department to maintain.
“We’re going to add Sof’Fall engineered wood chips like we’ve done at Riverside Park,” Sargeant said. “I can’t wait to get rid of that sand.”
Another focus will be to add handicap accessible playground equipment, more toddler swings and maybe even reinstate the tire swing.
