Bert Deglow

On May 22, 2012, Bert Deglow passed into the eternal presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Bert was born June 3, 1938 in Cardston, Alberta to Ruben and Constance Deglow. At the age of 9, the family moved to the Flathead Valley and he graduated from Flathead Valley High School in 1956. He was honored for having perfect attendance for all four years of high school.

He attended Western University on a football scholarship and received his master’s degree in education at Montana State University in Bozeman. He was inducted into the Western University Football Hall of Fame. Bert served in the National Guard.

In 1970, he married the love of his life, Gloria, and became an instant father of three. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bert loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and playing golf. He and Gloria loved to travel and camped all over the United States.

His grandkids called him “Papo” and they will always remember his corny jokes, card tricks and playfulness.

Bert spent 35 years as a teacher, coach and principal. He loved his job and touched the lives of hundreds of young people who remember him fondly even though he was a tough disciplinarian. He set a great example as a gentleman who was always honest, fair and had an excellent work ethic.

Bert is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Bernice Cordier and Margaret Johnston.

Bert is survived by his wife Gloria, Kalispell; son Lance (Laura) Deglow, Kalispell; daughters Tammy Deglow and Becky Adamson both of Denver; four granddaughters Brianne (Ted) Pacheco, Brooke Paro, Brittany Deglow and Ciara Dibble; six grandsons, Wesley and Jordan Adamson, Spencer Sias, and Shane, Andrew and Gavin Weston; three great-granddaughters Kambrya, Siena and Anzley Pacheco and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bert was a loyal friend to many and loved his family unconditionally. We, his family, loved him with all our heart and he will always be missed. But we find comfort in knowing that he is with our Heavenly Father and we will all be together again someday.
