Can you believe we’re almost into June? It’s supposed to be our rainiest month. I hope I got my veggies and flowers planted by the last frost day in our area. My compost bin was tilled into my garden spot, now I have unknown squash/cucumber-type little plants sprouting up all over. I hope they’re not all zucchinis!

Our senior center will participate in the annual Sanders County Yard Sailing venture on June 22 and 23. This will replace our monthly flea market at the center, so get ready to show your treasures or find some new ones. Call 246-3526 or 246-3271 to reserve a vendor’s table. Dixon is on the far end of Sanders County, but we count! There will be maps out for all the folks who are participating along the route for the whole county. Details coming.

Meals for June will be: Thursday, May 31 meatloaf; Monday, June 4 beef stew; Thursday, June 7 oven-baked chicken; Monday, June 11 meatloaf; Thursday, June 14 pork chops.

Leave the cooking (and clean-up) to us, while you enjoy the almost-summer activities around the house and yard! Bring the whole family and guests. We’re open for meals on Mondays at 5 p.m. and for lunch every Thursday at noon.

Well, here we are, into June already. I guess that it’s true that the older you get, the faster time goes. At least the weather is somewhat nicer. I just hope that the new snow stays up on the mountains and doesn’t come down into the valley.

There were 18 people at the card party on the 21st. Lyla Faye Krantz had the high score, Peggy Johnson had the low score, Lyle Hilfigure had the most pinochles and Mary Howell won the door prize. Lunch was served by Sharon Guenzler. Every Monday evening, this group meets at the various centers to play cards. The next time they play here at the Ronan Senior Center will be on Monday, June 18 at 7 p.m. They always welcome new players, so if you are interested in joining them, give your local center a call.

The veteran’s rep will be here on Thursday, June 14 from 1 until 2 in the afternoon, and our pork roast dinner will be that evening at 5 p.m. All are invited to attend. It’s a great meal at a very low price.

The Foot Clinic will be on Wednesday, June 20. Give me a call (676-2371) if you would like your name on the list. There are only 10 slots available, call early to make sure that you get one.

The center provides meals at noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with one evening meal a month. All ages are invited to join us, and you don’t have to be a member of the center to join in any of our functions. We also have the Meals on Wheels program, and provide home delivered meals (five days a week) to the Ronan and Pablo areas. Because of various factors, our meal count is down, and we need to get more people to join us for our meals so we can keep this program going. The center can be rented out for various functions. If you need any more information, give us a call at 676-2371.

Our menu for the following week: Wednesday (30th) is salmon loaf, Friday (June 1) is cheeseburgers and potato salad, Monday (4th) is ham and scalloped potatoes, Wednesday (6th) is Salisbury steak, and Friday (8th) is barbecue ribs and seasoned rice.

My daughter was explaining to my granddaughter (age 6) that when she was growing up, she didn’t have computers, the Internet, cell phones, iPods and video games. My granddaughter’s response was: “Mom, you sure must have been bored.”

Have a great week, and remember the best cure for a bored child is work.
