The Senior Citizens Center will hold its monthly birthday lunch on the First Friday, rather than the second Friday in November .
The following are activities at the center for early November. For more information, call the center at 745-4462. Bingo is played after almost every lunch. Ayleen’s Quilters meet in the center most Thursdays.

The AARP-sponsored Safe Driving class will be held at our center on Tuesday, November 13 from 9:30 until 2, with 1/2 hour break for a sack lunch. There is a special offer for all veterans and their families to take the class for FREE in November. This is a no-stress class, which may give you a deduction in your auto insurance. All drivers are invited to refresh your skills in an informal class--bring your AARP card and pay $12 or nonmembers pay $14. Please call 644-3446 or 239-8638 to register.
It’s great to have our president, Joey Hettick, joining us at the center, after a lengthy bout of recuperating from surgery. Every diner is important and welcome. Bring the family for an easy dinner out, with no clean up! Meals are served on Thursdays at noon and at five o’clock on Mondays, starting Nov. 5. Notice this change, with the ending of Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, Nov. 4.

We are raffling off an Irish Chain Quilt that was made by Rocky Stanley and quilted by our own resident quilter, Mary Arden. It is done in various shades of browns and cream and Rocky was kind enough to donate it to the Center. The tickets sell for $1.00 for one or 6 for $5.00. Be sure to stop in and take a look at it and buy yourself a ticket or two. Thank you Rocky for your generous gesture.
Just a few friendly reminders to pass along to you all is the AARP Driving Class on Tuesday, November 6th, give us a call at 883-4735 and we’ll get you on the list. Our Friday night Bingo is going very well and we would love to have you come down and play with us. It starts at 7:00 and is usually done by 10:00. Cost is $5.00 minimum for 4 hard cards and flimsies are $1.00 each and the last flimsy game played is $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Toe Nail Clinic will be on Wednesday November 14th.
There will be a Holiday Bazaar and Rummage Sale here at the Center on November 10th. The proceeds will benefit the Center and the Journey Be Homeless Shelter. There will be Christmas gifts, clothes, some new, shoes, games, puzzles, books, videos, plants and a little something for everyone. Be sure to stop in on that day and check it out.
Bowling Scores from Oct. 23 are High Scratch Series Keith Ross 863, Crystal Alter 695, Larry Alter 645 and Don Young 632. High Scratch Games had Keith Ross 300, Crystal Alter 277, Larry Alter 258, Don Young 241, Jesse Barry 227, Cindy Lawin 215, Jack Adamson 213 and Frani Basta.
Now for some card scores. Bridge for October 19th had Bob Gorsuch first and Doris Gorsuch second and on October 23rd Doris Gorsuch was first and Bob Gorsuch took second. Way to play Bob and Doris! Pinochle scores for October 25th had Duane Johnson first and Carol Daniels was second.

Don’t forget that Tuesday, Nov. 6th is election day. Get out and vote for the candidates of your choice, and maybe the political commercials will go away.
Congratulations to Betty Corum for winning the fall basket here at the Center.
We had 61 people here for the birthday dinner last Friday. If you weren’t here, you missed a great meal and music.
AARP will be having a 55 A-LIVE class here on Wed., Nov. 14th. If you are a Veteran or the spouse of a Veteran, the class is free to you. Just make sure that you have your Veterans I.D. with you. For others, the cost of the class is $12.00 for AARP members and $14.00 for non-members. They have condensed the class down to only one day, and it starts at 9 a.m. If you would like to sign up, give us a call at 676-2371.
The rep for NewWest insurance will be here again to discuss the Medicare Suppumental insurance options at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5th, and again on Mon., Nov. 26th. If you can’t make those times, you can also call the COA at 676-2367 to set up an appointment with them. Open enrollment last until Dec. 7th, so any changes need to be made before then.
The monthly board meeting will be on Monday, Nov. 5th, the Veterans rep will be here on Thu., Nov. 8th, from 1 until 2 in the afternoon, and our evening meal is also on the 8th.
We will be h having our Thanksgiving dinner here on Wed., the 14th, at noon. We will be serving a traditional turkey dinner.
The Center will be having a spaghetti dinner on Sat., Nov 17th, from 4 p.m. until 7p.m. Please come in and join us, as this is one of our fund raisers that we need to offset the loss of Federal and State funding.
Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, we will be closed on Thu., the 22nd, and Fri., the 23rd.
Our menu for the following week is: Wed.(31st) is ham and scalloped potatoes, Fri, (Nov. 2nd) is baked fish, Mon.(5th) is pork chops, Wed.(7th) is tacos, Thurs.(8th) is chicken (5p.m.), and Fri.(9th) is spaghetti.
Cards will be played here at 1:30 on Mon., the 19th.
