Local resident charged in Alaska throat-slashing
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - According to an article in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, an Alaska man survived an “unprovoked” attack in a bar early Saturday morning when his neck was allegedly slit by Lance Arthur Johnson, 45, of Polson.
A Fairbanks police cruiser in the vicinity responded to the scene immediately and was able to provide help to the victim while also apprehending Johnson as he exited the establishment.
The 37-year-old victim sustained a five- to six-inch gash across his neck, but miraculously avoided damage to any major veins or arteries. Losing lots of blood, the victim went out to the parking lot to call 911 and was soon rushed to a hospital to close the wound.
According to the Daily News-Miner, the sudden attack was caught on a security camera inside the bar, and does not reveal any prior altercation between the two men or any apparent motive.
Johnson was taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center and held on $25,000 bail. The details of Johnson’s visit to Alaska were not clear to Fairbanks Police.
