Ronan man arrested on $75,000 warrant

LAKE COUNTY —  Lawrence Mays Jr. was arrested on Oct. 3 for a $75,000 Missoula City warrant for sexual abuse of children.

According to a press release from Undersheriff Dan Yonkin, Lake County Sheriff’s Office,  officers from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Tribal Police, US Marshalls Office, Missoula City and County Officers  were able to locate Mays and arrest him after he was found sending illicit images and texts to a 13-year-old Missoula girl.

Missoula Police were aware that Mays was residing in the Lake County area and contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to help in the arrest.  

According to Undersheriff Yonkin, “we happened to be in the right place at the right time,” as Mays was captured attempting to escape from a window at a residence in Pablo.

After his arrest, Mays appeared in Missoula Justice Court and was held on $25,000 bail before being taken to the Missoula County Detention Center.  

Mays was charged with two counts  of sexual abuse of children, his case will be tried in  Missoula County District Court.
