Robert A. “Bob” Woodruff

Robert A. “Bob” Woodruff, 82, passed away at his home near Charlo on Thursday, Sept. 6. One of 6 children, he was born in Enumclaw, Washington to Guy and Emily (van Hoof) Woodruff on May 20, 1930.  He was raised in Washington where he married Delores Craig on Nov. 2, 1948 in Tukwila, Wash.  A life long dairyman, he also worked as a driver for Darigold for 17 years in Washington before moving to Montana in 1967 where the family began a dairy south east of Charlo. Bob was a rodeo cowboy establishing several rodeos in his day.  He won All Around Cowboy buckles and also ventured into the stock contractor business.  Bob owned four race horses that ran in Hamilton, Missoula, Spokane and the NW Circuit and enjoyed the horse races watching them most everyday on the TV. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mill and one who died in infancy and his brother Jack. He leaves behind his wife Delores; his children Rick & Kathy Woodruff of Charlo, Connie & Leonard Pierce of St. Ignatius and Sheri & Gerry Clark of Charlo; sisters Shirley Call and Gloria Sherwood of Wash. and brother in law Dick Craig of Okla.; grandchildren Ethan(Kristy) Woodruff, Kayleen Woodruff, Pamela Woodruff, Darren (Wendy) Orr, Windi Sue (Marty Wilson) Orr, Leonard “Butch” (Betty) Pierce Jr., Kenny Pierce, Peggy (Bull) Pierce, Jackie (Lonnie) Wilson, Donald (Sue) Pierce, Patrick (Rudy) Pierce, Adam (Nicole) Pierce, Dorrie Sandberg, Kaitlyn (James) Fitzpatrick, Kerry (Grant) Anderson, Jennifer Harris, Vicki Backerd, Jessica (Quinn) Norwick, Jami (Nathan) Bauer and Jena Wills; 58 ¾ great-grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Friday at the Foster Funeral Home in St. Ignatius with funeral services being held at 11 am Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) in Ronan.  Burial will follow on the Ronan Cemeteries.  Condolences may be left at fosterfhandcrematory.com.
