Dorothy Allison Wheeler Obituary

| August 14, 2013 1:10 PM

Dorothy Allison Wheeler was born on December 19, 1925 at St. Ignatius, Montana and passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on August 11.  She was the second child of the late Genevieve Ashley-Allison and frank Allison.  The following siblings preceded her in death: Frankie, Helen (Dubsy Parker), Lloyd and Russell.

Dorothy was a lifetime resident of the Mission Valley and enjoyed the area, her neighbors, and the deer and turkeys that frequented her yard.  She attended boarding school at the Urseline Academy and graduated from St. Ignatius High School.  After graduating she attended Kinman Business College.

She met and married John Patrick Wheeler on April 3rd, 1948.  To this union three children were born: Victoria, Arlene, and Matthew (Jennie) Wheeler.  She had a love for books and learning, which helped to instill the value of education in her children.  She is also survived by four grandchildren: Laura, Lucas, Justyne, and Mary Wheeler, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Dorothy was a member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribe and proud of her heritage.  She was a furiously independent woman who will be missed by all who knew her.

The Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Foster Funeral Home in St. Ignatius with Mass being celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 15 in the St. Ignatius Catholic Mission.  Interment will follow in the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery.  Condolences may be left at fosterfhandcrematory.com
