ST. IGNATIUS — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to resurface about 18.3 miles of Highway 93 in Lake County. The project begins 0.1 miles north of the North Street intersection in Arlee on Highway 93, at reference post 18.5, and extends northerly for 18.3 miles ending 0.2 miles south of the Dublin Gulch Road/Red Horn Road intersection, at reference post (RP) 36.8.

Proposed work includes resurfacing the highway by applying a seal and cover (chip seal) to the roadway surface. At the RP 18.9 (Jocko River) bridge, the bridge end pavement will be milled and filled with new pavement. At the RP 29.3 (Rest Area Access Crossing) bridge, the existing bridge end pavement and subgrade will be removed and replaced with geotextile, special borrow subgrade, crushed aggregate, and new asphalt surfacing. In addition, the project will upgrade the pavement markings.

The public can expect single-lane closures in the project area during working hours. More information regarding closures will be made available prior to the beginning of construction. No property acquisition or utility relocations are anticipated.

Construction is expected to begin in 2014, depending on availability of funding and completion of design.
