Florence A. Zimmermann

| December 19, 2013 1:24 PM

Florence A. Zimmermann passed away on Sept. 25, 2013. Born in Los Angeles, Calif. on June 26, 1927 to Herman and Frances Barberris Zimmermann and grew up in Lake Elsinore, Calif. After graduating from business college in Los Angeles she worked in San Diego where she met Jack Hamm and married in 1949. “Flo” was a devoted wife and mother to their only child Katherine “Kathy,” involved with all events and making holidays fun. After a divorce she worked in and just outside of Yellowstone Park from 1972 to 1991, then retired to Polson.

She volunteered at Polson Hospital and was very involved with the Presbyterian church where she was a deacon, always the first to offer rides to bingo and picnics and day trips. She loved to travel and was blessed to go to Hawaii, Alaska and up and down the west coast of which she loved the ocean.

Every year she would make special arrangements to see her daughter Kathy Davis and her husband Joe, her only grandchild Teresa York and her husband Jon and great-grandson Zackery Stanfill. After a serious lung disease she relocated to Eugene, Ore. in 2006 where she was able to attend her granddaughter’s second wedding and to attend Zackery’s high school graduation.

She was preceded in death by her oldest brother John and survived by brothers George of Montana and Joseph of Alaska.

She will be greatly missed and always in our hearts especially when we look to the ocean, waterfalls, flowers and nature of which she took many a picture and so dearly loved.
