POLSON – The Pirates and Chiefs took to the mat last Friday in a Lake County duel that resulted in Polson defeating Ronan convincingly 58-28.

“We’ve always have had a good rivalry with Ronan,” said Polson’s head coach Bob Owen.  “Our young guys are really wrestling well for us.”

But the spotlight was on the upperclassmen as Polson  honored senior night.  For Craig Feistner, it was the star seniors last home dual and Feistner didn’t disappoint his home crowd.  At 140 pounds, Feistner pinned Ronan’s Kyle Lawson at the 2:34 mark in the match.  With the win, Feistner improved his record to 31-4 on the season.

Early in the dual, Polson’s freshman heavyweight Isaiah Williams pinned Michael Irwin in 5:34 and set the tone for the rest of the dual.  Other significant pins for Polson included (119) Carlos Quinones pinning Ronan’s Trevor McAllister.  The victory gives Polson strong momentum headed into the divisional tournament next weekend in Frenchtown.  A tournament Coach Owen believes his Pirates will fare well.

“I feel all of our wrestlers have a shot at making state [in their weight class,] said Coach Owen.
