Busy year at Bread Basket

| February 2, 2013 7:00 AM

Thank you… Thank you…Thank you… Thanks to all the wonderful caring people and businesses of our community who have made such a difference.

The Bread Basket served 1,884 families and gave 108,908 lbs. of food for the whole year of 2012. Your compassion and generosity is inspiring and gratefully received especially through the holiday season.

Each year we face the challenge of raising enough money and receiving enough food to make sure each family that comes to the Bread Basket receives basic staples and each year our community blesses us with the spirit of giving. Because of your financial help we will be able to purchase necessary staples when our food donations get low. We thank our community members for their unfailing support in feeding our neighbors. Our families will be able to receive food due to the stocked shelves & stored food available for the winter months ahead because of care, concern and actions of their neighbors. Thank you one and all, and yes we still need the food and donations to keep coming in.

The Board Members wish to acknowledge all in our community who give their generous support volunteering their time, donating money and/or food to help the Bread Basket be successful.

So many of you give in so many ways such as the generosity of our faithful local grocery stores who work with us throughout the year: our schools, churches, businesses, organizations and tribal entities who creatively gather food and provide financial support year after year, the newspapers who help us keep the community informed, the other food pantries that care enough to share when they have excess, and most importantly each individual who shares whatever they can in time, food and money.

We at the Bread Basket are enriched while being continually humbled living in a giving community that works together for the sake of others. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and the Board of the Bread Basket wishes everyone a prosperous new year in 2013.
