Bertha Amelia (Baltz) Welker

Bertha Amelia (Baltz) Welker, age 104 of Ronan passed away on Saturday Jan. 26 at the St. Luke Extended Care Facility in Ronan. Bertha was born Oct. 20, 1908 to Julius and Elsie Baltz in Marsland, NEB. She was raised on the family farm with two sisters and two brothers. Bertha “Grams” came to MT. in 1940 with her three children, Robert, Alvin and Jessie Rautz. She remarried and had a son Jerry in 1942 and a daughter, Alberta “Birdie” in 1947. Bertha spent many hours outside tending her flowers, garden, and animals. Everyone was welcome to Gram’s house if it were to buy a dozen eggs or to share a cup of coffee. Grams loved her many chickens, cows, and especially her flowers that she tended with loving care. Grams was always there to lend a helping hand to all her family and friends. Grams was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters, her sons Robert and Alvin and daughter Jessie. She is survived by her son Jerry (Sharyle) of Rollins, MT and her daughter Birdie (Jerry) Hagfeldt of Las Vegas. She also has many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Luke Extended Care for the excellent care she received while living there. Memorial Services will be held on Sat. Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Ronan. Shrider – Thompson Funeral and Cremation Services of Ronan is assisting the family with arrangements.
