Jean Wigton-Guertin

Audrey Jean Pryor was born on February 8, 1926 in St. Louis, Mo. On January 26, at 86 years young, Jean passed away into the waiting arms of her son, Theron, the love of her life, Del, and her loving granddaughter, Lisa. At her bedside were her sons, David “Gus” (Jenifer), Mike (Trudy), and daughter Judy (Frank). Jean grew up in Denver, Colo., one of seven brothers and sisters. In 1943, Jean and many of her friends had to leave school and work in the armory to support the war effort. She met and married Del Wigton, and when he was assigned to Germany, she moved to Plains, near his family. On his return they settled in Polson, where they raised their family. Jeannie worked as a cashier for Safeway, had a daycare, and found a love for bowling of which she won many trophies and pins and made many friends. Sadly, she lost her son, Theron, to leukemia at 16. The family moved to Hot Springs, where they met new friends. Jeannie worked for The Mercantile and did cooking for the dining room of the Florence Hotel, for the school cafeteria and continued her love of bowling. Jeannie moved back to Polson and met and married a new-found companion, Jerry. She worked for Super 1, owned Price’s Café, and The Lunch Box Café. She loved catering and baking. She went on to work the AM shift at Pier 93. In 2003, Jeannie moved to California to be with her daughter, Judy, and enjoy her extended family and friends. Her great-grandchildren enjoyed many of “Grandma Jean’s Massages”. Health concerns led to her living in Missoula, at Village Health Center (Assisted Living) in 2009. All who knew Jeannie knew of her unconditional love and support for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed but not forgotten; infinity. Jean leaves behind eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and other extended family and friends. Private services will be held in the late spring.
