Pachyderm Club Meets
Todd Bassett, vice president and branch manager of Glacier Bank in Polson, will be the guest speaker at the Friday, Jan. 25 meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. His topic: “The Banking Industry: Its recent past and its near future.” The Lake County Pachyderm Club meets at the Polson Rural Fire Department Hall on Regatta Road the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m.; the business meeting begins at 12 noon and concludes at 1 p.m. All interested persons are cordially invited to attend.
RHS Class of ‘78
The Ronan High School Class of ‘78 is planning their 35-year class reunion! An organizational meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pizza Café in Ronan. Please join us to help plan our reunion. For info call Bev at 676-2735.
FLIC Festival
The Flathead Lake International Cinemafest will be held in Polson Feb. 1-3. The Cinemafest will kick off its opening night with a Champagne Soiree in the main ballroom at the KwaTaqNuk, at 5 p.m., Friday. Attendees are invited to come dressed as their favorite movie star. Hors d’oeuvres and champagne, as well as wine and beer, will be served until the party breaks up at 6:30 p.m. to allow party-goers to attend the 7 p.m. screening of guest filmmaker, Jeff Chiba Stearns. Tickets are now available for purchase from the FLIC website and Showboat Cinema. The festival ends Sunday with a “Best Of” Awards dessert reception from 3 to 4 p.m. The reception will be held at the Showboat Cinema, 316 Main Street, Polson. RMS Theatre
Another theatre offering is coming to the Ronan Performing Arts Center on Feb. 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. “Phantom of the Op’ry” will be an unusual adaption by the Ronan Middle School drama students. Tickets are available at the Ronan Flower Mill or at the ticket office the days of the play.
Expo and Livestock Trade Show
The Lake County Leader will be holding their 23rd annual Expo and Livestock Trade Show. The event kicks off at the Ronan Community Center and Lake County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. The trade show is open to the public, come visit with our vendors. Quilt Guild Meets
The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will hold its monthly meeting on Feb. 5 at the Terrace Lake Community Church, formerly the Alliance Church, east of Ronan. For those who can come early, doors open at 3:30 for members to work on TLC quilts. We will be sewing bindings on quilts, making binding, making rag quilts and strip quilts. Please bring your sewing machine, walking foot, iron, about a yard of 2 1/2” strips, and sewing supplies. Questions: Call Donna 676-4126. A soup supper is planned, potluck if anyone wants to bring anything. Rosa, Kay Wahl, and Vickie Gallagher are on the refreshment committee. The regular meeting will start at 7 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your block of the month and any challenge quilt projects or show ‘n tell. See you on the 5th! Everyone is welcome.
Library Story Time
Children’s programming is in full swing at North Lake County Public Library in Polson. Mother Goose Time will resume Monday, Feb. 4. This special half-hour program is intended for babies and toddlers ages 1 -3 and their caregivers. Two sessions will be presented each Monday the library is open through April, at 10:15 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. Story Time will start again on Thursday, Feb. 7 with the theme “Tracks in the Snow”. These programs are geared toward children ages 3 -5 and their caregivers. Story Time will be offered at 10 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. each week through April. Sessions include stories, songs, finger-plays, rhymes, and fun! As always, the program is free and open to all. Republican Convention
The Lake County Republican Central Committee will hold a convention for the purpose of organizing. The event will be held Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Miracle of America Museum’s public meeting room. Officers will be elected to serve in 2013 and 2014. The public is welcome to attend.
