BASEBALL

Wednesday, June 26

Bitterroot Bucs 5, Mission Valley Mariners 3

Bransen Krebs notched a two hits and scored a run to lead the Mariners’ offense in a losing effort. Leadoff man Ryan Pablo tallied two RBI.

Nick Crawford took the hard luck loss on the road, allowing just one earned run over six-plus innings of work. He struck out seven. The Mariners’ defense was not so solid, committing five errors that led to four unearned runs.

Patrick Pape went the distance on the mound for Bitterroot, allowing no earned runs and just five hits.

Mission Valley Mariners 7, Bitterroot Bucs 6, 10 innings

Bradley Pichler knocked in the winning run on a Bucs error in the bottom of the 10th inning to salvage a split in Wednesday’s doubleheader. Pichler went 3-for-5 with an RBI in the contest.

Zeke Webster-Yaqui went 2-for-5 at the plate and scored three runs for the Mariners.

J.T. Probst picked up the win in relief.

Sage Hansen went 4-for-5 to lead Bitterroot.

Thursday, June 27

At Boys of Summer Tournament, Belgrade

Livingston Braves 8, Mission Valley Mariners 7

A 6-run third inning did the trick for the Braves, who held on for the win despite Mission Valley’s late-game rally.

Jeremiah Crawford and Alex Killian each went 2-for-4 with two doubles to lead the offense, but four fielding errors spoiled the day for the M’s.

Tanner Hall led Livingston’s offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run.

Friday, June 28

At Boys of Summer Tournament, Belgrade

Pac Tech (Wash.) 16, Mission Valley Mariners 4

Mission Valley was plagued by four errors in the blowout loss.

Ryan Pablo led the M’s offense with a double, a single, and an RBI.

Regina (Sask.) 18, Mission Valley Mariners 3

The nightmare day continued for the Mariners, who committed 10 errors in their second contest on Friday. Ryan Pablo was the bright spot in the offense again, as he knocked two doubles and drove in a run for Mission Valley.

Saturday, June 29

At Boys of Summer Tournament, Belgrade

Mission Valley Mariners 19, Idaho Falls (Id.) Knights 13

Zeke Webster-Yaqui ripped three hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs to lead Mission Valley to a win in a slugfest. The Mariners totaled 18 hits in all and were also highlighted by 3-for-6 performances from both T.J. Olson and Brennan Andrews.

Sunday, June 30

At Boys of Summer Tournament, Belgrade

Mission Valley Mariners 10, Powell (Wy.) Pioneers 6

In the fifth place game, Mission Valley was powered by a balanced offensive attack. Zeke Webster-Yaqui, Jared Young, and Keith Woodward each had two RBI, and T.J. Olson had an RBI triple for the M’s.

Ryan Pablo picked up the win on the mound.

3-on-3 BASKETBALL

Polson natives Ian Laimbeer and Cody Fischer were part of a team that won its bracket in the annual Spokane Hoopfest 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. The duo, along with teammates Wes Knox and Landon Kissinger, posted a 6-0 record in the tournament, which was held on June 29-30.

FISHING

Katherine Geldof caught a new state record Red Sided Shiner in Polson Bay of Flathead Lake. The fish measured in at 7 inches and weighed 0.13 pounds. She caught the fish on a Zimmer Bait setup with a maggot.

The prior record was a 6.5-inch. 0.10-pound fish caught in Lost Lake on August 21, 2001.
