Mass and Fellowship in Arlee

The Missions of St. Ignatius and Arlee Sacred Heart and Jocko would like to announce Mass on July 7th, 2013 will be held at 10:00 am at the Arlee Powwow grounds in the dance pavilion.  This will be the only Mass for these Missions that day.

Pachyderms meeting

“Taxes—Now and Near Future; current developments in income taxes and a forecast of upcoming tax changes” will be the topic of guest speaker, Walter J. Kero, at the Friday, June 28 meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club.

Kero, a Certified Pubic Accountant, is with the accounting firm of Junkermier, Clark, Campanella, Stevens, P.C. in Missoula. His career has been devoted to corporate financial management, tax return preparation (individual, partnership and corporate), auditing, and has been responsible for all aspects of a public accounting firm.  

Anyone interested is invited to attend the meeting which begins at 11:30 a.m.; the business meeting starts at 12 noon and adjourns at 1 p.m.  

The meeting is held in the Polson Rural Fire Department Hall on Regatta Road west of the bridge in Polson.

Vacation Bible School

St. Ignatius Mission Vacation Bible School will be held July 15-19 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.  The theme this year is “Trust God, No Matter.”  

Registration forms are available in the front of St. Ignatius, Sacred Heart in Arlee and Jocko Churches  as well as various locations.

Pablo Elementary Reunion

Pablo Elementary students from the Ronan classes of 1963-1969 are meeting in Pablo, Aug. 3, at 12 noon for lunch.

Polson School Board

There will be a Polson School Board Meeting on Monday July 8th at the District office (111 4th Ave. E.) at 5:30.

Polson 4th of July Festivities

Polson’s 4th of July Parade will begin at noon on Thursday, July 4th. The parade will begin at Cherry Valley Elementary School on the corner of Main Street and 8th Avenue.  

The route will be down (north) Main Street, turning right on 3rd Ave West, in front of Polson Hallmark.  The parade participants will continue to the parking lot at Linderman School for disassembly of the floats.

Entry forms for the parade can be picked up at Polson Chamber of Commerce office.  The forms have to be completed and returned to the Chamber Office at 418 Main Street by July 3rd.  There will be ribbons awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as for the best Children’s entry.  Please have a simple sign on both sides of your float stating your business or family name.

After the parade there will be an ice cream social at the Polson Flathead Historical Museum at 708 Main Street.  Donations will be accepted.   

Fireworks will begin over the river at dusk.

Fellowship Baptist Church Dinner

Fellowship Baptist Church would cordially invites you to a free community dinner at our church to be held on Thursday, June 27th from 6 PM to 7:30 PM.

We will be serving hot dogs, salads and a selection of homemade desserts.

Come join us for an evening of fun, food and fellowship. Our church is located at the corner of 7th Ave and Main Street across from the HCP building. We hope to see you there!

South Shore Neighborhood Gathering

Polson Heart and Soul will have its neighborhood gathering on Thursday, June 27 from 6-8:30 for those living around the South Shore area.  

It will be held at the Polson Bay Golf Course Club House (lower level).  Dinner will be served and babysitting will be provided.

Mission Mountain NRA Rodeo

The annual Mission Mountain NRA Rodeo will be presented and produced by Polson Fairgrounds, Inc and will be held Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29.

Each evening will begin at 7:30PM with Youth Mutton Bustin’ and Youth Miniature Bull riding beginning at 6:30.  

Live music by “sho down” on Friday night after the rodeo.

Arlee Powwow Celebration

The Arlee Powwow celebration will be held July 4 in Arlee.

The event is open to the public and free admission.   

Arts, Crafts, Stick Games, Dance Competitions, Indian and other various ethnic foods. Sponsored by the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribal Nation and Yamncut (Drum Groups).

Firecracker Fun Run

The 5th Annual Firecracker Fun Run will be held on Thursday, July 4th.  The Polson 1 mile walk/run starting at 11:45AM at St Joseph Medical Center.

 We will start the parade with a quick walk or run down Main Street before the parade starts. It is very low key, it is mostly for little kids and families, but all are invited.  

The entry fee for the race is a canned food donation, which will then be delivered to Polson Loaves & Fish Pantry.  

Registration for the run opens at 11:15 and participants should wear red, white and blue.

NARFE Picnic

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) will hold their picnic on Wednesday, July 10 at the home of Mary Turk - located at 24640 Old Highway 93 at 12 noon.

Mary’s home is right on Old Highway 93 - one mile north of Elmo. Proceed north for two miles to her home on the right.

A program will feature William Schroeder, who will speak on Kiwanis. Please bring a cover dish. Call Leonard Dubuque with questions at 319-2054.

Herb Meeting

The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Tuesday, July 9 at 7 p.m. at the North Lake County Public Library Meeting Room (Polson) 2 First Avenue East (use the east side door).

Our topic for the evening will be “Herbs to the Rescue”.  We are learning to use herbs to stay well and deal with everyday health issues.
