Sears Hometown comes to downtown Polson
POLSON — The new Sears Hometown Outlet Store in Polson will offer both a diverse inventory and personalized service.
The store, owned by Jill and Lenny Sargent, opened its doors this week and offers everything from lawn mowers to hand tools from trusted name brands, such as Craftsman and Kenmore. Delivery, installation, and service techs who come to customers’ homes are all part of what the store brings to downtown. Appliances; lawn and garden items, including mowers and barbecue sets; power and hand tools; beds; vacuums; and more will be on the 6,500 square foot show floor.
The new Polson store is privately owned by Sargent, who said she’s looking to hire eight people. Sargent said she decided she wanted to open a store in Polson a while ago and finally found the ideal location.
“I really wanted to be downtown,” she said.
Enough customers from the Valley come to the Kalispell store to shop, and then want items delivered, Sargent said. The distance makes for a spendy delivery charge, she added.
Sears corporate had already earmarked Polson as a community in which a store could be located, so Sargent took the plunge.
“We’ve been looking for a place for a number of years,” said Sargent, whose Kalispell store has been open the past four years.
Instead of making the drive to Kalispell or Missoula to find things, customers can order anything from Sears’ inventory from the website, and most orders will arrive in a week or less, saving customers time and money, Sargent said.
Small freight and items, such as linens, can be shipped directly to buyers’ homes, free of shipping costs.
“We have access to everything on sears.com,” Sargent added.
A grand opening event will be held in June, during which a $250 giveaway drawing will be held and gift cards given.
Hours at the store, located at 214 1st St. E., are 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 571-2018.
