Fatal vehicle crash north of St. Ignatius
ST. IGNATIUS — A single-vehicle crash north of St. Ignatius on Friday afternoon left one woman dead.
A passerby called in the crash at about 2:45. Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Terry Rosenbaum said it's unclear how long before then that the crash occurred.
The Chevrolet pick-up truck was traveling south on Foothills Road, just off of Red Horn Road, when it lost control for an unknown reason and went off the west side of the road and over an embankment, rolling at least once, Rosenbaum said.
The woman was not wearing a seatbelt, and was thrown more than 60 feet from where the truck came to rest. It is unknown whether alcohol or speed were factors in the crash or not.
The woman had not been positively identified as of Friday evening.
