KALISPELL — Mission Valley Christian Academy’s soccer season ended with a 5-1 loss to Helena Christian in the Montana Christian Athletics Association state tournament on Friday.

MVCA fell twice over the course of the two-day tournament, also dropping a 6-0 contest to Heritage Christian (Bozeman) on Thursday. The Sting also dispatched Great Falls Home School on Friday afternoon, 6-3.

The season-ender was the Sting’s third loss to Helena Christian this season, but coach Randy Adcock noted improvement in the MVCA team’s play as they took a 1-1 tie into the half thanks to solid defense from keeper Jake Windauer.

“Time and time again Jake fended off bullet shots on goal against us,” Adcock said. “We tried everything we could possibly come up with in the second half, including moving our faster athletes back and forth between the offensive and defensive positions.”

Jake Windauer and Nick Windauer were both named to the MCAA all-conference team, and sophomore Brady Shipley received the league’s Christian Character Award, said MVCA Director Chris Bumgarner.
