Martha Nicholson
On October 17 at 9:45 p.m. our beloved mother, Martha Nicholson, went to her heavenly home completing a well-lived journey of 93 years on this earthly soil. She was the last of her generation as all of her siblings and her beloved husband of 52 years predeceased her.
She was born on August 22, 1920 in Odessa, Wash., the third daughter of Andrew Geisler and Emma Schimke Geisler. It was her delight to wed Dwight M. Nicholson on August 31, 1938. To this devoted union were born four surviving children: Martha Ann (George) Spear of Graham, WA, Keran Marie (Dick) Moderie of Polson, MT, Dwight Del (Pauline) Nicholson of Deer Lodge, Mollyo Nicholson of Kalispell, and one son Chappie Nicholson who died shortly after birth. These children have provided the legacy of the family, 15 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and 27 great great grandchildren.
It was Martha’s joy to have dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and along with Dwight became active members of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. They faithfully performed and acted upon their beliefs, having no guile or hypocrisies. Even though Martha was quiet and had a difficulty sharing her feelings, when so moved by her love for the Lord and her family, she would speak out her opinions or concern. She had an urgent desire to share the Good News of Jesus that the gift of salvation was for all and forgiveness can be experienced by all who will accept it.
The celebration and memorial of her life was held on October 30 at 11 a.m. at the Polson Alliance Church on Hwy 93 North of Polson. A lunch followed the service and then a graveside service in St. Ignatius at Pleasant View Cemetery.
