Church bazaar and luncheon
The annual fall bazaar and luncheon is being held at the First United Methodist Church of Polson, Friday, Nov. 8.
The ever-popular apple dumpling is again the menu highlight. Soup and sandwiches topped off with a dumpling and ice cream are served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Art, homemade crafts and bake goods are sold form 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
United Methodist Women sponsor the event and use proceeds for local and church-wide mission projects. The church is located at 301 16th Ave. E. in Polson.

Free Dinner at Polson Presbyterian
The November Friendship Table Dinner is coming up on November 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Come join us! This dinner is free and open to all.
Mission Valley Band Festival
The festival will be held Nov. 12. There will be 7 schools participating, Ronan, Bigfork, St. Ignatius, Arlee, St. Regis, Plains, and Thompson Falls. Students will rehearse all day under the direction of Dusty Molyneaux. There will be a concert at the 7:00 that evening in the Ronan PAC. Everyone is invited to attend.
Herb meeting
The next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs Group” will be Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the North Lake County Public Library Meeting Room (Polson), 2 First Avenue East (use the east side door). Our topic will be “Prevention is the Best Insurance”. We are learning to use herbs, foods, and other traditional remedies to prevent and handle health issues. We are continually becoming more familiar with how to use the “Herbal 9-1-1” materials in our everyday lives.
Anyone interested in learning to use herbs for better health is invited to join us. If you have questions please call Linda Peterson 319-2446.
Parent-teacher conferences
Polson Middle School will be holding parent-teacher conferences on November 12 and 13 from 4:30-8:00 PM. Soup and rolls will be served from 4:30-7:00 for families attending conferences. Also, there will be a Scholastic book fair going on in the Polson Middle School library during conference times. Please come to meet staff and support your child’s education.
Fire Board Meeting
The Polson Rural Fire District Trustee Monthly Meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station. All residents of the Polson Rural Fire District and interested general public are encouraged to attend.
Valley View Potluck
The monthly potluck will be Sunday Nov. 10, at 5 p.m. at the Valley View Clubhouse (40762 Valley View Road). Come and enjoy good company and food. Call Kelly Bailey at 883-2910.
Valley View Women’s Club
The monthly meeting will be Thurs. Nov. 14, 7 p.m. If you would like to join please call Kelly Bailey at 883-2910. Monthly meetings are always the second Thursday of the month.
Pachyderms talk polar bears
Dr. Frank Tyro, award-winning filmmaker and renowned observer of polar bears, will present a program recounting experiences from the 33 trips he has made to Churchill, Manitoba, the “Polar Bear Capital of the World,” at the Friday, Nov. 8, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm meeting.
The presentation will begin at noon at the Rural Fire Department building on Regatta Road west of the bridge in Polson. Anyone interested in learning is welcome to attend.
Rock Your Moc’s
On Friday, November 15, 2013 at The People’s Center in Pablo, “Rock your Moc’s” will be held in honor of Native American Heritage Month (November). Join us here at The People’s Center at noon for a potluck lunch (we will provide fry bread). We will take a picture of all the moc’s then do a round dance together to honor all Native Americans. Fall Mack Days
Fall Mack Days will be held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from October 4 until November 17.

School board meeting
The Polson School Board Meeting will be held on Monday November 11th at 5:30 at the Polson District Office (111 4th Ave. E.).
Ronan Thanksgiving Dinner
The Tenth Annual Ronan Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be on November 28th from 11:00am to 3:00pm at the Ronan Community Center. Each year, the celebration draws several hundred residents, coming to share conversation, homemade pie and the chance to recognize the good that has come into their lives. Dinner is free but volunteers and cooks are needed.
Daughters of the American Revolution
The Kuilix chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 1 P.M. Tuesday Nov. 19, 2013 at Four Winds IndianTrading Post. Hwy. 93 St. Ignatius. Refreshments served at 12:00 P.M. Prospective members welcome. Call 745-4336 for more information.
The attack on Social Security
Why has Social Security always been a target and what can we do to make it stronger? Join us to learn more about the most successful anti-poverty program in America’s history, what made it sustainable for 78 years, as well as why and how it can remain that way.
Elizabeth Marum of the Montana Organizing Project will present a program at the Lake County Democrats meeting on Wednesday, November 20 at the North Lake County Library. Social hour begins at 6:30pm with the program at 7:00pm. The public is invited.
SKC presidential inauguration
At 10. a.m. on Nov. 20, the inauguration of Robert R. Depoe III as Salish Kootenai College President at Joe McDonald Event Center in Pablo. Reception to follow in the Camas Room.
