Cross country teams compete in Missoula
MISSOULA — All five Lake County high school cross country programs participated at the Mountain West Invitational on Saturday.
Polson runners stole the show in terms of the locals, with the Polson girls finishing 26th—fourth highest of any Class A school—at the state’s largest meet of the year.
The Pirates’ Claudia Hewston (19:22) finished 51st, fastest of any Lake County girls, and Tel Motichka (17:09) led the way for the boys, posting a 141st-place race. Hewston finished second-fastest of Northwest A runners and Motichka was fifth in that same category.
According to Polson coach Matt Seeley and Mission coach Marc Cutler, both schools saw many of their runners perform personal bests in the highly competitive meet.
Tate Weingart (18:54) and Kaylie Durglo (22:24) led the way for Mission’s boys and girls, respectively.
Kiana Howell led the way for Ronan’s girls with a time of 21:59.
