World-Wide Paint Out
Local artists will be joining artists around the world for the 11th Annual IPAP International World Wide Paint-out on Saturday, September 14 at Polson’s Riverside Park. Check in is at 10AM. Contact John Davis for details at dcartworks09@yahoo.com
Lake County High School Rodeo
The Lake County High School Rodeo will be held on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15 at the Polson Fairgrounds. Both girls and boys participate in a wide range of rodeo activities and possibly for the first year there will be sports shooting. For more information call 406-644-2874 or 406-676-7600.
People’s Center Pow Wow
The People’s Center will be having a Pow Wow on Saturday, September 21st. This event includes traditional Native American dancing, drumming and singing. Vendors of beadwork, local art, and food will be on hand. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event. For more information call the People’s Center at 406-676-0160.
College Fair
High school juniors and seniors from Polson, Ronan, Charlo, Thompson Falls High Schools and Two Eagle River School along with their parents are encouraged to attend Polson’s Post-Secondary College Fair on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the Polson High School Gymnasium.
Approximately 80 post secondary schools from Montana and other northwestern states will be represented at this year’s Post-Secondary College Fair. The fair provides an opportunity for students and parents to visit with representatives from 4-year colleges, 2-year colleges, colleges of technology and the military. Information about academic programs, admission requirements, scholarship opportunities and other crucial data pertinent to students’ post-secondary plans will be available.
Students must register online to attend this year’s fair and will be eligible for one of five $1,000 scholarships to be awarded in the Western Montana Region. A random drawing will be held in November to determine the recipients of the scholarships. To be entered into the drawing and attend the fair students must fill out a registration form online at www.montanacolleges.com/scholarships and bring their registration confirmation with them to the fair.
This free event is open to all high school juniors and seniors. Polson High School and the Montana Post Secondary Educational Opportunities Council (MPSEOC) sponsor the fair. For more information, contact the PHS Guidance Office at 883-6351.
Free Dinner at Polson Presbyterian Church
The September Friendship Table Dinner is coming up on September 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. We will be serving spaghetti, french bread, salad and cookies. Polson Presbyterian Church is located across from the Linderman School. Come join us! This dinner is free and open to all.
Pachyderm Club
The Lake County Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, September 13, in the conference room of the Fairgrounds Fire Station just across the bridge in Polson. The meeting will start at 11:30 a.m with a brown bag lunch and social time. The formal club meeting will start at 12:00 with a short business meeting followed by our guest speaker.
The club is very pleased to welcome as guest speaker for the meeting Ms. Heather Knutson, General Manager of Polson’s Country Foods. She will focus on the products, company structure, growth and future of Country Foods. Ms. Knutson was born and raised in Polson. She has been involved with Country Foods since its founding, when she was hand-labeling plastic bags. Currently, she serves as the General Manager of the company. She is passionate about their products and enjoys being involved in the food industry. All are welcome to attend.
St. Ignatius Hunter Education
Online registration is now open for the St. Ignatius area hunter education course. Register online at fwp.mt.gov; click Hunter Ed Schedule and follow directions to register (http://fwp.mt.gov/education/hunter/hunterEd.html).
Classes will be held at the Christian Church from 6-8:30 p.m. on September 16-20, 30, with field exercises on Wednesday, September 18. A parent or guardian needs to be present at the first session to register their child.
All hunter education classes are free of charge. By state law, anyone born after January 1, 1985, must have completed the Hunter Education Course to buy a hunting license in Montana. The minimum age for hunting in Montana is 12 (11-year olds who turn 12 by January 16 of the license year can qualify, see regulations).

MVCA Softball Tournament
The Mission Valley Christian Academy is planning a valley wide event to have some fun, fellowship and food. On Sunday, September 15th, MVCA is hosting a softball tournament fundraiser at the Polson Cherry Valley softball fields at 2:00. Churches from around the valley (as well as any number of individuals) are invited to bring a team and join in some friendly competition. Concessions, a throwing skill and home run contest, kids games and other fun events are also planned. If you need more information, please call the school office at 883-6858.
Masumola Club meeting
Masumola Club will meet September 12, 2013 at the Masumola Clubhouse on the West Shore. The public is welcome. Social hour begins at 5:45 with a BBQ to follow and a program on the Grinde Bay Winery scheduled for 7 p.m. Bring something to grill and a dish to pass.
