The Blue Devils haven’t won a football game in more than a year, but they have a new coach in Clayton Curley. … Polson will try to kick the turnover bug. They gave Dillon five freebies last week. … Corvallis fell to Frenchtown in a shootout in their first game of the season. … Polson hopes to keep some momentum going from receiver Jacob Harrod’s big game against Dillon. The sophomore had 46 receiving yards on four catches on Friday.

The Chiefs look to bounce back after a tough loss to Eureka in their home opener. … Ronan’s defense did force two safeties in the 24-10 loss last week. … This week, they are tasked with slowing down Trojan quarterback Gabe Hickman. At 6-0, 200 pounds, the four-year starter is a dual threat who can run through the tough hits. … Speedy tailback Luke Haggerty will be another key attention point for the Chiefs’ defense. … Ronan coach Jim Benn is looking for more fluidity in his offense, which managed just one score last Friday.

Mission probably has the toughest task of Week 3, traveling to 2-0 Boulder. The Panthers are rolling, having outscored opponents Deer Lodge and Joliet a combined 97-14 so far this season. … Bulldogs coach Rich Ferris is looking for improved play out of his young offensive line, which blocked for only one Mission first down in last week’s loss to Whitehall. … If Mission is going to pull the upset, look for junior Raymond Matt to have a big game on both sides of the ball.

The Vikings hit the road for the first time this season, taking on a tough opponent in Philipsburg. The Prospectors blew out Noxon, 54-0, in their first contest of the season. … The Delaney brothers—RB Tyler and QB Michael—are off to huge starts for Charlo, who has already knocked off defending 8-man state champion Superior. … The Vikings defense is charged with stopping Granite quarterback Jerry Metesh, who accounted for more than 300 total yards and six touchdowns in his first game of the year.

Arlee can’t do much worse than last week when they lost to Seeley-Swan, giving the Blackhawks their first win since 2010. … Quarterback Riley Rogers and company look to rebound against another bottom-feeder Darby. The Tigers lost to Drummond, 50-14, in their season opener. … The Tigers have a loaded junior class led by quarterback Joe Caicedo, who Arlee coach Mike Rogers identified as one of the best athletes in Western C.
