Frenchtown (1-2) at Polson (2-1)

The Broncs were probably hoping to ride their momentum from last year’s state quarterfinal appearance a bit better than they have the first three weeks of 2013, falling to Stevensville and Hamilton in back-to-back weeks. … Polson’s defense has been terrific since a blowout loss to Dillon on Sept. 6. Since then, the Pirates have allowed just 18 points. They held Browning to just 33 rushing yards and forced five Indian interceptions last Friday. … Running back Cody Lemons will be the focal point of Frenchtown’s offense, paired with dual tight ends Bobby Erbaugh and Jordan Moe, who will see the majority of the passing attack. … Polson hopes to take advantage of homecoming and conference-opening hype to jump on the Broncs early.

Robertson’s prediction: Polson 27, Frenchtown 14

Loyola (2-0) at Ronan (1-2)

The Rams are 2-0 and haven’t lost since 2011, so Ronan has its work cut out. Both of Loyola’s first two opponents, Manhattan and Boulder, have held the Rams within striking distance, though. … Ronan’s offensive attack has been on and off, so it’s tough to gauge what we can expect from Connor Benn and company. The key to success against Loyola’s size—three linemen over 235 pounds—is to get the ball in the hands of speedy receiver Bryce Cullen complimented by power back Lucas Gerhardt. … The Chiefs’ defense will line up against quarterback Matt McHugh and Loyola’s pistol formation. The Rams have one of the more prolific passing attacks in Class B.

Charlo (3-0) at Darby (0-3)

Expect the Vikings to be primed and polished heading down the Bitterroot off a bye week. Tyler Delaney is having a huge season for Charlo, and expect the senior to be fresh after sitting out of a few practices during the off week. Offensive weapons Jacen Petersen, Michael Delaney and Tristen Santee have also been productive this year. … Darby will look to slippery signal-caller Joe Metesh to spearhead the upset bid.

Robertson’s prediction: Charlo 62, Darby 24

Deer Lodge (3-1) at Mission (1-3)

After an impressive shutout win over Plains last week, the Bulldogs seem to have found some life approaching the midpoint of the season. The next step is hosting a much-improved Deer Lodge team that has won three games in a row. … The Wardens will rely on junior QB Ethan Johnston, who tossed six TD passes last week against Thompson Falls. … A Bulldog secondary led by Jarred Brown and Tate Weingart will have its work cut out, but the young Mission line is improving with each game.

Robertson’s prediction: Deer Lodge 36, Mission 16

Arlee (1-3) at Noxon (0-3)

The Warriors will make the trek up Route 200 to take on the winless Red Devils. … Arlee’s P.J. Haynes is having a big season, averaging 6.5 yards per carry. … Riley Rogers’ favorite targets have been Patrick BigSam (24 catches, 365 yards) and Tyler Tanner (21 catches, 228 yards). … Look for the Warriors to pad their stats in this one.
