Arlee

A busy calendar is shaping up for the Arlee Senior Center this April. We have scheduled a Spring Brunch on Saturday April 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. Everyone is invited, so bring your family, tell your friends and neighbors, and come to the Senior Center for an Eggs with Bacon, pancakes, fruit and yogurt, and coffee cake Brunch.

The Lake County Council on Aging sends out the Foot Lady to each Senior Center once a month. Jane will be at the Arlee Senior Center on Friday, April 14 this month. Please call 726-3213 to set up an appointment from 10:30 to Noon so Jane can know she has clients waiting for her. This free foot care is especially important for individuals with a history of diabetes and diabetic neuropathy in their feet, and to monitor fluid build up in the lower extremities which can develop related to some heart problems.

Any one is welcome; you do not need to be a senior citizen or a member of the Center. If you need help trimming your toe nails give that number above a ring and schedule a time.

Arlee 1 Precinct Chief Judge, Anne Stewart, is in need of election judges for the School trustee election in May, the Primary election in June, and the General Election this fall, in November. Each of these elections will occur on the first Tuesday of the indicated months. Training will be held during April for all individuals willing to take part in this essential process at the grass roots level of our democratic society. Please give it some serious thought, and call Anne Stewart, at 726-3448 or 406-544-9651 to sign up.

Have you seen any Robins or Bluebirds yet? I read somewhere that male birds only sing when they are looking for a mate. Well, there is one bird that sings, in the mornings, outside of my bedroom window. He just might meet an untimely death if he doesn’t find a girlfriend real soon.

This Wednesday (2nd) is our “Crazy Hat Day”. So spruce up your hat, and come on in and join and try to win prizes for the best hats. We will also have drawings for door prizes. Swiss steak is on the menu for that day, and the cost of the meal is only $4.00 if you are 60 years or older.

The Board meeting is on Monday, the 7th, and all board members and alternates are encouraged to attend.

Our Thursday evening meal is on the 10th, at 5 pm. This month we will be serving a chicken dinner, and the cost of this meal is $5.00 per person.

The Foot Clinic is on the 16th, cards are at 7 pm on the 21st, our birthday dinner is on the 25th, and my last day is on the 30th. Come on in and meet Andrea Lohf, our new Nutrition Director.

AARP has scheduled a Safe Driver Course (formally 55-Alive) on the 15th of May. If you would like to take this course, you may sign up here at the Center, either in person or by phone (676-2371).

The COA’s Ladies Luncheon is also coming in May, on the 10th. You need to order tickets in advance. Tickets will no longer be available after the 1st of May.

Don’t forget to vote “yes” on the mil-levy to support the Senior programs in Lake County.

Our menu is as follows: Wed.(2nd) is Swill steak, Fri.(4th) is mac n

cheese and polish sausages, Mon.(7th) is spaghetti, Wed,(9th) is ham and

Have great week, and come on in and join us for a great meal and to visit
