BEWARE: Stage 1 fire restrictions in place

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) Region 1 will adopt Stage I Fire Restrictions for all FWP Fishing Access Sites, State Parks, and Wildlife Management Areas within the following counties and Fire Zone Areas: Northwest Zone: Lake County within the Flathead Indian Reservation; and Sanders County within the Missoula Restriction Zone (Lolo National Forest).

These restrictions become effective as of 12:01a.m. Mountain Daylight Time, Thursday, August 7 2014 and will remain in effect until rescinded or revoked

The following acts are prohibited until further notice:

1.Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire or campfire except for the following exemptions: Finley Point, Big Arm, and Thompson Falls state parks.

People still may cook on an LP gas or propane stove that can be turned on and off.

2.Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
