POLSON –  A CSKT officer making regular rounds found a “wanted” man near the intersection of 11th Ave. and 4th Street West, but lost after two foot chases and two attempted take-downs, said CSKT Captain Louie Fiddler.

The suspect, whose identity was not released, was hiding in a car when CSKT Patrolman Casey Couture recognized him Aug. 19, said Fiddler.

But once Couture stopped his patrol vehicle and began to serve the unnamed man with an outstanding Lake County Sheriff’s Office warrant, the suspect jumped from his car, forcing Couture to deploy his taser.

“He (the suspect) broke the taser probes,” Fiddler said. “…so the officer deployed his (pepper spray.)”

But the suspect ran from the pepper cloud and took Couture on a foot chase in the neighborhood.

Couture caught the suspect and tried to take him into custody, Fiddler said.

“(The suspect) broke loose and got away but (Couture) grabbed him again,” he said.

The second altercation ended in frustration for Couture.

The suspect broke away once more and disappeared into the neighborhood.

Law enforcement officials are still on the lookout for the suspect, Fiddler said.
