Senior News - Feb. 13
St. Ignatius
The St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center thanks Ray Jensen for plowing its lot after recent heavy snows. The center still has petitions for people to sign to get on the ballot an increase in the county mill levy for senior citizens services. The levy would increase the tax bill on a $100,000 house by only $2.62. The demand for senior services in the county is rapidly increasing.
The following are upcoming activities. For more information, call the center at 745-4462, or Mack McConnell, 745-4151. Bingo is played after almost every lunch. Lunches begin at 12-noon. Quilters quilt in the center most Mondays and Thursdays.

Feb. 14 birthday & Valentine’s Day BBQ chicken lunch
Feb. 17 quilters

As cold as it is outside, our senior bowlers continue to heat up the lanes. Some are making them downright hot.
Walter Reznicek not only had the high game of 247, he also had high handicap series of 703. He’s not just a pretty face. Cris Alter followed close behind with a 246 game, showing up her husband, Larry, who had a 220. They both, along with Don Young, shared spots in the high series. Jack Adamson, 245, Don Young, 241, Keith Ross, 212, Ray Theiler, 203, and Kathy Fry, 202 filled out the rest of the high game star roster.
The lunch menu for the coming week beginning on the 13th is:
Thursday - hamburger gravy over whipped potatoes
Friday - BBQ sandwich
Monday - navy bean & ham soup
Tuesday - goulash
Wednesday - beef tips & gravy over rice
Our tax preparers have been busy. Call for an appointment. 883-4735.
Everyone is welcome to join our exercise group on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30.
Every Friday night we have bingo games beginning at 7:00 p.m. A lunch and snacks are available.
And finally, congrats to our cook, Wanda Burland, who just celebrated 31 years of marriage. They went to Kalispell and watched their team, the Seahawks, take the trophy.
Trivia question of the week: Explain the quote, “Shamed be those who think evil of it.”

Thanks to Delene for creating the lovely center pieces for the tables, this month! It’s not too late to be somebody’s Valentine! Call someone or bring them a treat - or just your company. We all appreciate friendship.

Despite the extremely cold weather, our attendance numbers have been good, but we haven’t had many other activities going on here. I guess that, with it being so cold people just want to go home. When things warm up, we will get them going again.
Tax time is in full swing, and we still have appointments for the AARP volunteers to do them for you. Give us a call at 676-2371 and we can set up an appointment for you.
Welcome back to Bill Aucus. He had gone back to Pennsylvania to sell his home, and has come back to Montana and the nicer weather.
This Thursday (13th) is our evening meal. We will be serving a great chicken dinner, and the meal starts at 5 p.m.
Friday is Valentines day, and we will be having a ham dinner at noon. We will also have door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Bring your sweetheart (or a friend) and come on in and join us.
Thanks to Dan Roullier, at Rocky Mountain Signworks, we have three beautiful signs to put on our building. We will, of course, have to wait until warmer weather and sell snow to get them up. As usual, Dan did a wonderful job, and everyone is very pleased with the signs.
Cards will be played here at 1 pm on Monday, the 17th. The foot clinic will be here on Wednesday, the 19th. The foot clinic is from 10-noon, so please give us a call (676-2371) and we will get your name on the list.
The COA is always asking for volunteer drivers for the Med-cars. If you can help give them a call at 676-2368. That is also the number to use if you need a ride to an appointment or to go shopping.
Our menu for the next week: Wed. (12th) is chili dogs, Thurs. (13th) is chicken (5 pm), Fri. (14th) is ham, Mon. (17th) is chicken noodle and broccoli cheese soup, Wed. (19th) is swiss steak, and Fri. (21) is meatballs in gravy.
You don’t have to be a “senior citizen” to eat here, and we invite everyone to join us for meals and our activities.
