RONAN — Arlee’s girls basketball team continued its District 14C success in the league’s tournament this weekend, winning the district crown in decisive fashion, 58-40, over second-place St. Regis.

Both teams compete in Butte this week for the Western C divisional tournament.

Arlee opens up on Wednesday with Shields Valley.

The Scarlets (16-4, 12-0) posted an unbeaten record in regular-season league play and showed why on Friday and Saturday in Ronan, rolling through the competition.

St. Regis toppled Charlo in the semifinal, but the Vikings earned a divisional berth with Monday’s challenge game win over District 13C No. 3 Darby in Florence.

Senior Jordan Ludeman led Charlo with 29 points in that win-or-go-home contest.

Charlo begins divisional play against Twin Bridges on Wednesday morning.

On the boys side of the bracket, Arlee punched its ticket to Butte but lost in the tournament final to unbeaten Superior, 58-50.

The Warriors knocked off Charlo’s boys for the first time this season to reach the final, however.

The Vikings were then dropped by Hot Springs in an overtime thriller in the consolation final after dispatching Noxon handily to get there. The loss marked the end of a dream season for the Vikings. Coach Mike Brown led Charlo to a 14-8 mark, posting a 10-2 regular-season league mark.

Arlee matches up with Manhattan Christian in first-round divisional action Thursday at 6:45 p.m. in Butte.
