There are six Senior Citizens Centers located in Lake County, and in conjunction with the Lake County Council on Aging, we are putting together a petition to get a mill-levy on the ballot in June. This mil-levy will be to raise funds to allow the Centers and the LCCOA to keep their doors open and therefore to continue to provide their services to the seniors of Lake County. We ask your help in getting this on the ballot in the June election, simply by signing our petition.

Now is the time to pay your membership dues for 2014.

The Foot Clinic will be here on Wednesday, the 15th, from 10 am until noon. Give us a call (676-2371) and we will put your name on the list.

Cards will be played here on Monday, the 20th. They start playing at 1 p.m., and all are invited to come in and join them.

We serve our noon meals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Come on in and join us for a great meal and to join in on the activities afterwards. We

will be showing movies on Mondays, having crafts on Wednesdays and playing Bing-O on Fridays. We also have a Wii game, if you feel like playing one of the games on it.

Commodities will be out on the 21st, so make sure that you get in to get yours. If you can’t make it in, call the COA (676-2367) to make other arrangements with them.

If you have free time on your hands, why not volunteer to be a driver for the COA. They provide transportation for area seniors for medical appointments and shopping. They provide the cars and the gas, you just need to donate your time.

Our menu is as follows: Wed. (15th) is chicken, Fri. (17th) is pork gravy over noodles, Mon. (20th) is meatloaf, Wed. (22nd) is sausage and sauerkraut.

Our guests for Brunch for Lunch last Thursday included Nancy Jo Howard, our “Information for Seniors” lady who travels to every senior center in the county, bringing help and advice along with her humor. Also, we were pleased to have Sanders County Sheriff, Tom Rummel, pay us a visit, assuring us we are not forgotten at this end of the county. He discussed needs and ideas for the Sheriff’s office.

We are missing some of our long-time members, due to sickness and other health issues. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Our meals for the next week will be:

Thurs.  Jan.  16  Salmon patties, baked potatoes

Mon.     Jan.  20  Polish sausages, mac & cheese

Thurs.  Jan.  23  Roast turkey breast, potato casserole

All meals include vegetables, fruit, varied breads and dessert. Lunch is served each Thursday at noon, and dinner is Monday at 5 p.m. All ages are welcome - we even have a highchair.
