Trevor Jordan Atkin
Trevor Jordan Atkin was born September 15, 1985 to Steven L. Atkin and Penny L. Atkin at St. Ignatius. He died December 10, 2013 at the age of 28 in Frenchtown. Trevor was the last of four children born into the family, joining his older siblings, Seth, Ethan and Suzanne.
As a child, he was known for his adventurous spirit, his inexhaustible energy, and his absolute fearlessness. At the young age of 5, Trevor had already summited St. Mary’s peak in the Mission Mountains with his father. Even after moving from the Mission Valley to Frenchtown at the age of 9, Trevor often returned to hike and fish in the mountains he loved as a child.
Trevor attended public schools in St. Ignatius, Charlo and Frenchtown, graduating from Frenchtown High School. He participated in wrestling and football while in high school. Trevor also attended the University of Montana.
Trevor worked with his brother, Seth in drywall construction and in various other labor positions, including the dismantling of the old Frenchtown paper mill.
At the age of 12, Trevor began to learn the guitar, which became his lifelong passion. His raw talent and focus soon revealed his natural musical abilities. Anyone who had the privilege to hear him play, or play with him was touched by this incredible gift. Trevor had a sharp intellect, was opinionated, loyal to those he loved and possessed a mischievous sense of humor. Above all, Trevor had a soft heart and a gentle spirit which he often tried to conceal behind his quiet demeanor.
Trevor is survived by his parents, Steven and Penny Atkin of Frenchtown, currently of Lilburn, Ga., his brother and sister-in-law, Ethan and Lauren Atkin of Round Rock, Texas, his sister, Suzanne Atkin of Portland, Ore., his nieces, Marley and Camdyn and his brand new nephew, Seth Aaron Atkin all of Round Rock, Texas, his uncle and aunt, Michael and Elsa Alexander of Hawaii and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his older brother, Seth Michael Atkin, his grandparents, Helen and Roy Atkin and Arthur Alexander and his uncle, James Atkin.
Graveside services were held at the Pleasant View Cemetery in St. Ignatius at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. at the Frenchtown building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop Douglas Lundell officiated at the services. The Foster Funeral Home of St. Ignatius is handling the arrangements.
