POLSON — Wyatt Jenson became the first Polson football player of the year to commit to a college program, signing with the University of Montana-Western last week.

Jenson, a first-team all-Northwest A Conference selection at offensive guard and second-team defensive tackle, said that a campus visit two weekends ago sold him on the Bulldogs.

Aside from football, the 6-1, 250-pounder said Western’s biology program piqued his interest.

“He’s got good size, and we liked his mobility for a big man.,” Bulldogs coach B.J. Robertson said of Jenson. “He can pull. He can do a lot of things.”

Robertson said that UMW will likely use Jenson on the offensive line, but that they generally leave those decisions to the athletes.

Jenson joins Lake County athletes Cody Mock (Ronan), Barrett Sargent (Mission) and Chico Stipe (Charlo) on the Bulldogs’ roster.
