News from Joyce Siers, who recently moved with husband Don to the Veteran’s Home in Columbia Falls. She is nicely settled in and is comfortably cared for with lots of people to interact with as desired. We all miss Don, who passed on lately, and are happy that Joyce has a nice place to stay, and near her family. She would love to hear from friends.
It’s almost February . . . the month of Presidents, Valentine’s Day, Groundhog’s Day, and other special days.

Here we are, at the end of January, and that means that it is time for our birthday dinner. Come in and join us this Friday (28th) for a wonderful roast beef dinner.
It’s also time to think about getting our taxes done for last year. The AARP rep will be here on Fridays, beginning on the 7th of Feb. Give us a call (676-2371) if you want to make an appointment with them. As always, this is a free service offered by AARP, but donations to your local center are always welcome and appreciated.
The card players met here on the 20th, with 22 people present. Marie Cowen had the high score, Jim Barnes had the low score, Phil Grant had the most pinochle and Joan Sampson won the door prize. Darlene Salomon and Rose McBurney were the hostesses.
The players will meet here again, at 1 p.m., on the 17th of February.
Have you signed the mill-levy petition yet? If not, please do. This funding will help to keep the Council on Aging and the six senior centers in Lake County up and running. Just call you local center or the COA (676-2367) if you want more information.
Since we are starting a new month, we are also starting a new schedule of acivities. Our monthly business meeting is on Monday, the 3rd, at 10 a.m.
You do not have to be a senior to join us for our meals and other activities.
Our menu for the rest of the month of January and the first week of February is:
Wed. (29th) is baked potato bar, Fri. (31st) is roast beef, Mon. (Feb. 3rd) is taco soup, Wed. (5th) is pork chops and Fri. (7th) is salad bar.
We have not had enough Bing-o players, but are still having painting/crafts on Wednesdays and movies on Mondays.
The pool table is always ready for use, and there is always a jig saw puzzle to put together. We also have a lending library, where you can either borrow or trade books.
