MISSION  - Traffic in both the north and southbound lanes of Hwy 93 are clogged and will possibly be closed for a Life Flight helicopter to transport two elderly people trapped in their car.

An elderly man and woman trapped in their car are fighting for their lives as they wait for medical assistance to transport them to St. Luke Hospital in Ronan, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office scanner traffic.

Around 9 a.m., July 8, dispatchers called emergency teams to the scene of a one-car rollover accident with two entrapments.

During the next hour or so dispatchers issued a second and third emergency call to the scene.

Mission Fire Department in St. Ignatius, assisted by Ronan Fire Department arrived on scene and called for a medical airship for both patients, scanner traffic reported.

Around 11 a.m. one elderly male was pulled from his car and flown to St. Luke Hospital in Ronan. As of 11:30, the elderly woman was still trapped in the car and waiting for helicopter assistance.

Further information will be posted as received.
