Charlo boys win West
MISSOULA — Charlo’s boys repeated their Western C divisional track and field title with a convincing team win in Missoula last weekend.
The Vikings’ relay teams of Kail Pope, Connor Daugherty, Michael Delaney and Tyler Delaney (mile) and Jacen Petersen, Michael Delaney, Pope and Tyler Delaney (400) swept the relays.
Pope won the 300-meter hurdles, the event in which the MSU-Billings signee is the reigning state champ, and placed second in the 110-meter hurdles.
Michael Delaney outraced his older brother, Tyler, to win the 100, but Tyler won the 200 as Michael finished fourth. The Vikings also saw Manuel Ammann take the two-mile title.
Jesse Long, Dalton Delaney and Dugan Runkel also scored for the Vikings.
Arlee’s boys got their only points from Isaac Desjarlais, who plaed third in the 100 behind the Delaney brothers.
Kamiah Payne was fourth in the long jump for Two Eagler River’s only points.
Charlo’s girls placed fourth after winning the District 14-C title last week.
The Vikings’ relay team of Madison Foust, Sienna Brown, Aspen Runkel and Shayna Nagy won the 400 relay. That team took third in the 1,600 relay.
Jordan Ludeman took the pole vault title for Charlo.
Brown and Runkel both scored individual points, and Cheyenne Nagy added sixth in the long hurdles.
Arlee was highlighted by Whitney Malatare’s second in the long jump and Jessica Knoll was second in the 800. Alex Adams, Becca Whitesell and Carly Hergett all scored for the Scarlets.
