Prepping for state

FRENCHTOWN — Polson’s boys and girls track and field teams raced to second and third places, respectively, in the weekend’s Northwest A divisional track meet in Frenchtown.

Jacob Clairmont led the way for the Pirates, winning the 300-meter hurdles and the long jump, and placing in the pole vault, 110-meter hurdles and the triple jump.

Austin Corrigan won the discus for the Pirate boys, who finished second to Whitefish, and Jared Rubel, Tel Motichka, Danny DiGiallonardo, Jonah Kasnitz, Joe Gallatin, Frank Pope, Andrew Weltz and Mike Corrigan all scored points for Polson.

The girls placed third behind event wins from Claudia Hewston in the pole vault, the 400-meter relay of Tiara Duford, Chadelle Smith, Erica Alfiero and Lydia Bowman and the mile relay of Bowman, Madisen Wheeler, Hewston and Duford.

Mariah Corrigan and Chloie Huerta each placed second in throwing events, and Hewston took home silver in the mile race. Kidron Lee placed second in the high jump.

Nicole Clairmont, Anna Young, Gracie Carlyle, Amanda Harrod and Erin Sampson also scored for the Pirates.

Polson’s next action will be at the state tournament this week in Butte.
