Gerhardt leads Chiefs at state track finals
BUTTE – Ronan ran to 18th and 22nd in the Class B boys and girls track and field state championships, respectively, last weekend.
Chiefs senior Lucas Gerhardt placed third in the javelin, throwing 179 feet, 2 inches, and sixth in the shot put, 47 feet, 11 and three-quarters inches, to score all but one of Ronan’s points.
Connor Benn contributed the other Chiefs point with a sixth-place pole vault performance.
The Maidens got their points from junior Aspen Jore, who threw a 122-foot, 2-inch javelin to finish fourth. Jore was seventh in the shot put.
The Maidens’ short relay finished a couple spots off the podium in eighth, and their mile relay was ninth.
Jessie Lewis was 19th in the 100-meter dash for Ronan, and Kiana Howell was 16th in the 400. Alex Dennis was 11th in the 100 hurdles.
Freshman Ally Buhr tied for 12th in the high jump and 13th in the pole vault. Fellow frosh Lee Camel was 12th in the triple jump and 13th in the long jump.
Sydnee Clairmont was 18th in the long jump as well.
As for the rest of the boys, junior Bryce Cullen placed ninth in the high hurdles and 18th in the 300 hurdles.
Daniel Koehler finished a solid freshman year 19th in the 800. Cole Gerhardt was 12th in the discus and 18th in the shot put.
