Library kicks off summer reading programs

POLSON – The North Lake County Public Library’s 2014 Family Summer Reading Program runs from June 16 to Aug. 14 with all activities at 2 First Avenue East in Polson. All Programs begin at 10 a.m.

Younger children are welcome with adult supervision.

The schedule of events is:

Thursday, June 19 - “Kewl Science” Physics Demonstrations with Special Guest Jim Semmelroth

Thursday, June 26 - Outdoor Game Day at Sacajawea Park

Thursday, July 3 - Egg Drop Contest

Thursday, July 10 - Volcanos Part I

Thursday, July 17 - Volcanos Part II Explosions & Celebration

Thursday, July 24 - Puppet Show “A Fizzbang Read” by Special Guest - Sherry Johns

Thursday, July 31 - Movie Day @ Polson Theatre – Popcorn on us and Flubber on the big screen

Thursday, Aug. 7 - Annual Bug Race, Location T.B.D.

Thursday, Aug. 14 - Prize Drawings at the Library

Registration begins Monday, June 16 during regular summer hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Any person, any age who reads or is read to can participate.

To register, stop by the library and fill out a card with your name, address, phone number and age. You will receive your Reading Record. Your Reading Record helps you keep track of time spent reading or listening to someone read to you.

After you’ve completing four or more hours of reading, bring your signed Reading Record to the library, receive a reading incentive prize and enter the final prize drawings.

Last day to turn in reading records is Saturday Aug. 9.

Weekly activities are 10 a.m. Thursday for school-age children accompanied by an adult. The prize drawings will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14.
