WASA LAKE, B.C. — A regiment of the Mission Valley Rounders enjoyed good weather and (relatively) warm water at the Wasa Lake (British Columbia) triathlon series over the weekend.

The Rounders won the Tri Club Challenge by way of their top five times being the best of any group present.

Tana Seeley stole the show for the locals, winning the women’s title in the sprint triathlon with a 1-hour, 15-minute performance. Seeley won the swim and led most of the bike leg before getting passed late. She retook the lead in the transition, however, and never looked back.

Ali Bronsdon finished second in the Olympic-length race with a time of 2:13:31.

Matt Seeley, Deanna McElwee and Jordan Gurgiolo all found the podium. Seeley was third overall for the men, Gurgiolo was second in her age group and McElwee placed third in her age bracket.

Brothers Pat and Dave Lake finished fourth (2:26:33) and sixth (2:29:04), respectively.

The Rounders also saw a number of youngsters perform well in the kids’ triathlon.

Owen McElwee won the 8 and 9-year-old age group against 56 other racers, and Malia Seeley finished fourth in the 14 and 15-year-old girls’ bracket.

Teague McElwee, Isabel Seeley and Gwen Seeley all finished in the top half of young racers as well.
