Senior News - June 19
Polson
by Dave Basta
We are going to begin showcasing our members who have shown considerable support for our senior center. Heading the list is Dean Griener, who with his first wife, Mariella, and then with his second wife, Marilyn, has been very instrumental in our success.
Dean served 3 ? years and flew 35 missions piloting a B-17 in World War II. After moving to Polson, Dean served as Mayor. About that time he became involved with the Polson Senior Center, serving as the president (’84-’85) then twice more and is currently our vice-president. He is a life-long member of the VFW and took one of the last honor flights to Washington, D.C.
Dean and Marilyn were world travelers having many wonderful adventures from safaris to river rafting.
We will have bingo on June 20 and 27 but will take the entire month of July off due to staff vacations. At this time we plan on resuming Bingo on August 1st.
The hearing clinic will be held on June 24th. Remember, the VA rep will be here on the third Tuesday every month from 10 a.m.-noon. This is the old schedule.
The lunch menu for the coming week will feature: Thursday, June 19, Hamburger gravy over whipped potatoes; Friday, Mini sub sandwich; Monday, June 23, Enchiladas w/rice; Tuesday, Hamburger steak w/noodles; Wednesday, Lasagna, French bread.
Our cook, Wanda, has been hospitalized with viral pneumonia and is now back at home recuperating. We’re looking forward to her return as soon as she can get weaned from her oxygen.
